How we tested

On 31 October and 3 November 2026, we sent 8 providers the same list of 20 searches, or fewer. Each plan's Overall score adds five parts at their weights, scaled to 100. Price and Accuracy weigh 40 each, and Cost to get started, Bundle and Performance weigh 10 each. We score all 8 providers and rank them by their top plan's Overall score.

The Accuracy score on eBay search APIs

This score, out of 100, shows how much of a search's results page a provider's call returns. We send each provider the words of a search, as a buyer types them on ebay.com. We have no copy of eBay's page to check an answer against, so we compare the providers' answers. For each search, we count the parts the answer held, such as the products and each product's price. We divide the number of parts the answer held by the number of parts we count for the search. We count a part on a search when a live provider's answer held that part. We count each part from any provider's answer when fewer than two live providers found the search. We add each part from the searches that two live providers found. A results page shows the same parts on every search. For a part made of items, such as the products, we count the items in the answer. We divide that number by the most items any answer held for that search. We count no more than 240 items, the most eBay shows on one page. Each product has details, such as the price. We count the share of a provider's products that have each detail. We drop a provider's price for a product when two other live providers agree on a different price. We compare two prices when we made both calls within 30 minutes of each other. Some providers pass each call to one of several sources. For these providers, we count only the parts that all of their sources return. We average the results over all searches. Every search counts the same. Some providers ran on fewer searches. We compare each of them with the other providers only on the searches that provider ran on. A provider can't score higher by running only on easy searches. We lower the score when we test the call on fewer searches than the benchmark has.
