A Proxycurl alternative: LinkedIn profiles by URL, from $1.25 per 1,000
Proxycurl shut down on July 4, 2025 (its founder's goodbye post). The call most started with, its successor's quickstart says, was its Person Profile: send a LinkedIn profile URL, get the profile back as JSON.
Datacircle does that call through two providers behind one API key, each at its own price with no markup. Up2Data costs $1.25 per 1,000 profiles found, and a profile it can't find is free. No plan, no subscription: a balance from $5, and a $5 credit at signup.
What it costs, next to Proxycurl's successor
Proxycurl's team runs Enrich Layer now, which says Proxycurl's keys and credits work there. Its prices per 1,000 profiles, next to Datacircle's, each read from the vendor's own page in October 2026:
| API | Per 1,000, smallest purchase | Per 1,000, lowest without sales | Not found | Free to start |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Datacirclethrough Up2DataAt most 800 profiles a day per account; funds never expire | $1.25, from a $5 balance | $1.25, no plan | free | $5 at signup (4,000 profiles) |
| Datacirclethrough HarvestAPI | $3.70, from a $5 balance | $3.70, no plan, no daily limit | $2.30 per 1,000 lookups, HarvestAPI's | the same $5 credit |
| Enrich LayerPerson ProfileMonthly plans are a 12-month commitment; 1 credit a profile per its docs | $100 with a $10 pack; $19.60 on the $49/month plan | $21.60 with a $1,000 pack; $9.00 on the $1,899/month plan | free | 100 credits, 200 with a work email, for 30 days |

The same call, through Datacircle
Proxycurl's profile call, as Enrich Layer documents it in its quickstart:
curl -G -H "Authorization: Bearer $API_KEY" \
'https://enrichlayer.com/api/v2/profile' \
--data-urlencode 'profile_url=https://linkedin.com/in/satyanadella/'Through Datacircle with Up2Data, the URL goes in a JSON body and the X-Data-Provider header names the provider:
curl -X POST "https://api.datacircle.dev/v1/profiles/enrich" \
-H "Authorization: Token $DATACIRCLE_API_KEY" \
-H "X-Data-Provider: up2data" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"url": "https://www.linkedin.com/in/satyanadella"}'The answer is Up2Data's own JSON, the profile under data. Where the fields of Enrich Layer's sample answer are:
| Proxycurl and Enrich Layer | Up2Data through Datacircle |
|---|---|
| full_name | data.full_name |
| headline | data.headline |
| city, state, country_full_name | data.location.city, .region, .country |
| experiences[].company, .title | data.positions[].company, .title |
| experiences[].starts_at {day, month, year} | data.positions[].started_at, "YYYY-MM" or "YYYY" |
| education[].school, .degree_name | data.education[].school, .degree |
Up2Data also answers the profile's LinkedIn id, the full job history with each role's description and skills, skills, certifications, languages, publications, patents and awards; followers and connections at the same price. Every field: LinkedIn Profile API in the docs.
What's different
Every answer carries datacircle_meta: the provider that answered, what the call cost and your balance after it. A call that fails is not charged, and a profile Datacircle already holds may be answered from what is stored, at no cost.
Up2Data allows $1 a day per account (800 profiles), plus a daily limit shared by all customers. Past it, send the same URL to HarvestAPI, at $3.70 per 1,000 with no daily limit: GET /linkedin/profile?url=... with X-Data-Provider: harvestapi. HarvestAPI also bills a profile it can't find ($0.0023).
Datacircle answers LinkedIn profiles by URL, nothing else today: no company, search or contact calls. If you used Proxycurl for those, keep a vendor for them.
Questions
What happened to Proxycurl?
Proxycurl shut down on July 4, 2025; its founder's goodbye post on nubela.co says why. Its team now runs Enrich Layer, which says Proxycurl's API keys still work there, credits carry over, and the only change is the base URL.
What is the cheapest Proxycurl alternative for LinkedIn profiles?
Of the LinkedIn profile APIs we compared (October 2026, each price from the vendor's own page), Up2Data through Datacircle: $1.25 per 1,000 profiles found, from a $5 balance, and nothing for a profile it can't find. Enrich Layer, Proxycurl's successor, per 1,000 profiles: $100 with a $10 pack; $19.60 on the $49/month plan.
Can I keep my Proxycurl code?
Not as is: Datacircle passes each provider's own request and answer, so the host, the header and the field names change. It's one call: POST /v1/profiles/enrich with the profile's URL in a JSON body, and the profile comes back under data, with the same things under other names (positions for experiences, location.region for state).
Does Datacircle have Proxycurl's company, search and email endpoints?
No. Today Datacircle answers LinkedIn profiles by URL, through Up2Data and HarvestAPI. If you used Proxycurl for companies, people search or contact details, Datacircle doesn't replace those calls.
