The Data score on Google Hotels search APIs

This score, out of 100, shows how much of a search's results page a provider's call returns. We send each provider a city, as typed in Google Hotels' search box, with the same dates. We can't read Google Hotels' page, so we compare the providers' answers. We score each search on parts: the number of hotels, and each hotel detail such as the rating. A part counts on a search when a live provider returned the part. Some searches get results from fewer than two live providers. On those, a part counts when any provider returned the part. For each search, we cut each provider's list, from the top, to the number of hotels most providers returned. For the number of hotels, we divide the hotels a provider kept by the most hotels any provider kept. For each hotel detail, we take the share of the provider's hotels that list the detail. On each search, we average the provider's shares over the parts that count on that search. Then we average over all searches. Each search has the same weight. A provider scores 0 on a search where the provider's call returned no hotels. We compare a provider that ran on fewer searches with the other providers on those same searches. A provider can't score higher by running only on easy searches. We lower the score when we test the call on fewer searches than the benchmark has.
